You Can Download 'Call of Duty: WW2' On Xbox One, PS4 And PC Right Now, But File Size Varies

Wolfenstein isn't your only option for when it comes to killing Nazis this year. Call of Duty: WW2 is nearly upon us, hitting Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 3. And if you're looking to get into the action as soon as possible, you can start preparing right now. Preload is currently available for all platforms, allowing you to download the game early and start playing as soon as the servers turn on on November 3. Xbox One users have been able to preload for a week.
As far as file sizes go, you'll need 45 gb on Xbox One, 56 gb on PS4 and 90 gb on PC. That last one is pretty sizeable, so at least you've got some time to move that progress bar along.
Some might be too young to remember, but before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty was a World War 2 series: that's why the "Modern Warfare" moniker was necessary. For years now the series has traipsed from times from the 60s to the 80s and into the near and far futures, but it hasn't visited World War 2 since Call of Duty: World at War, which took a particularly grim look at the Pacific theater and parts of the war in Europe.

By all accounts, Call of Duty: WW2 is taking a similarly dark take on a conflict that has more of its share of darkness to work with, even if's been presented through a largely heroic lens for a long time. Most notably we've heard mentions of the Holocaust, something that I don't I've ever seen even mentioned in a major release like this. Like Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, Call of Duty: WW2 finds itself unnervingly timely even as a piece of historical fiction: the marchers chanting Nazi slogans and carrying Swastikas in Charlottesville reminded people all over the country that the specter of the Nazi party still haunts modern America in many forms. Don't expect a stirring political treatise, but I'll be interested to see how some of the darker story aspects play against today's political backdrop.
The heavier content matter will be largely sequestered to the campaign, however. Multiplayer won't even feature swastikas, and the ability to fully customize your character to the point of having female, black Nazi soldiers means that the online components of this game are much more akin to the historical playground than historical recreation. And Zombies, of course, revolves around killing zombies.
